Since the 1990s, Miguel Ángel Gaüeca (Bilbao, 1967) has been researching the construction of identity in a hypercapitalist society, taking autobiographical fiction, art history, and institutional dynamics as his starting point. He examines hierarchies, power, and value, and their impact on individuals.
In this piece, he draws on the aesthetics of 19th-century still life painting to respond to statements made by a well-known political leader who opposed the law allowing same-sex marriage.
